Positive Discipline parenting focuses on teaching children and guiding behavior through respect, encouragement, and problem-solving rather than punishment.

This approach empowers parents to build strong, nurturing relationships with their children while addressing challenging behaviors in a constructive and supportive way.

By guiding parents to set clear expectations, maintain consistent boundaries, and encourage problem-solving, positive discipline helps build trust and confidence in both the parent and child.

 Misconceptions about Therapy

  • Reality: Sometimes talking about an issue is so distressing that you would rather avoid it because you don't want to experience the stress or pain again. However, you may experience an increase of emotion before you start to feel better because you are processing a range of emotions that you are not used to processing. That is where we come in to support you through this discomfort.

  • Reality: We wish just as much as anyone that therapy would solve everything. Some think that simply because you talked to someone about these challenges you are supposed to feel relief and overall better afterwards. Talking about it is the first step, however, healing takes time and effort. With patience and persistence, you'll begin to see progress in how you respond to and manage challenges.

  • Reality: Therapy is comprised of evidenced based practices and modalities that have been proven to help individuals heal and make changes in their lives. This includes various methods of play and relationship building to provide a safe space where you feel comfortable to be honest and yourself. This way we can focus on what your core needs and be more helpful to you.

  • Reality: Seeking therapy is actually a brave and BOLD act because it requires you to be vulnerable, mindful, and face difficult emotions and thoughts. It is a brave step towards moving out of your comfort zone, and acknowledging that you need support.

We believe this is at the core of therapy. The BOLD step you take to say, “I don't know what else to do and I can really use some support.”

Be proactive! Recognizing your mental health needs and taking action now can help prevent prolonged distress putting you into potential risk of a “full blown crisis”. It can be very beneficial to seek a therapist to address intense emotions and thoughts.
